I was born and raised in a small town in southern Minnesota. My grandfather ran the community bank and when he passed my father took it over. It was from them that I first learned the principles of fiscal responsibility and the importance of community involvement and helping your neighbors.
After graduating from Wells-Easton High School I attended Saint John’s University. While attending Saint John’s I ran track and field and pursued a degree in education. However, I consider my greatest accomplishment in my time at Saint John’s to be meeting my beautiful wife Denise with whom I just celebrated 31 happy years of marriage.
Upon completing my education at Saint John’s, Denise and I moved to the south metro area, eventually moving to Shakopee, and we have happily called Shakopee our home for more than thirty years.
Denise and I worked together to raise our four children; Becky, Ben, Tom, and John. All four of our children graduated from Shakopee High School and participated in various activities and volunteer work while there. We are proud of the adults that they have become and there is no doubt that this community helped them to become the successes they are today.
Shakopee is not only a home to me and my family, but it is also where I own and operate my business as an insurance agent. I have ran my business from downtown Shakopee since the moment I got here, and it has been my pleasure to get to know and work with the wonderful people in the area.
Through the years, I have been very involved with the Shakopee community. My particular passion has been working with the youth teaching them values that they can take with them for the rest of their lives. Beyond working with the various sports teams my children participated in, I also spent several years volunteering my time to coach track and field at the Shakopee High School. I served as president of the Youth Football Program and served on the board of the Youth Baseball Program. I also proudly served as a Co-Chairman of the committee to build Vaughan Field, which still hosts many of our community events including the Friday night football games.
I continue to be involved in our local community to this day. I am currently an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Hibernians, and am a proud parishioner of the Joachim and Anne Catholic Parish. I also continue to stay involved with the youth of our community as a Youth Hunter Safety Instructor teaching kids to respect firearms and how to use them safely.
I have decided to run for State Representative after careful reflection and prayer. I have been active in our community for over 30 years and in that time I have had the fortune of getting to know many of the people that live here. I know that I can represent the interests of our community well, and I hope that you will support my candidacy to be your representative.
